COVID patients in 62 government hospitals

Dec 06, 2020

Colombo (Sri Lanka), December 6: Deputy Director General of Health Services Dr. Hemantha Herath said that 62 government hospitals have been set aside for Covid-19 patients and 13 patients are currently being treated in the Intensive Care Units.
He noted that although less than 10 hospitals had been set aside for COVID-19 patients in the first wave, there was a rapid spread of the disease at the beginning of the second wave.
He pointed out that while 13 patients died in the first wave over a period of more than three months, 116 patients had died in the second wave within two months by last Friday.
He stressed that although the health sector is at a level to control the disease, people must act with understanding and following health advice.
