Four quarantined inmates attempted to escape from Bogambara Prison captured

Colombo (Sri Lanka), November 29: Prison officers have been able to capture four quarantined inmates who attempted to escape from the quarantine center at the Bogambara Prison in Kandy today (29) by firing into air.
The four inmates who were detained in a cell of the quarantine center maintained at the old Bogambara Prison in Kandy have broken down the door of the cell and come out to the open space inside the prison.
Prison officials at the time saw the attempt and managed to control the inmates by firing into the air.
It is reported that there are about 310 inmates quarantined in the Bogambara Prison at present.
In a previous escape attempt by five inmates, one prisoner died and another was seriously injured. The others were captured by the prison officials.
The Prisons Department is conducting an investigation into the incident.
