President instructs to give Rs. 20 million for every MP to accelerate rural area development

Colombo (Sri Lanka) Dec 14: President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has instructed to allocate Rs. 2 million for each village and Rs. 20 million for each parliamentarian for the development of rural areas and that all development projects commenced with the funds should be completed by January 31.
The President has given these instructions when he chaired a meeting with the Government Parliamentary Group at the Presidential Secretariat on Thursday (12).
The President has also informed the governing party parliamentary group that the government has decided to provide 700 job opportunities to each MP and 100 jobs for each Provincial Council member by January.
President Rajapaksa has also said that those MPs who did not get any ministerial duties will be appointed as monitoring MPs. He has instructed all government ministers and MPs to act on the instructions of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.
The President has also instructed a group of MPs to find out whether the people are getting the benefits of the tax reliefs provided by the new government.
During the meeting, it has been discussed how the governing party should conduct in the next parliamentary session while the Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has instructed the ruling party members to allocate time fairly to the opposition as well during parliamentary debates.
The President has also requested the government to cut down all unnecessary expenditure of ministries and state institutions and to spend the money for the benefit of the common people.
Kalutara District Parliamentarian Piyal Nishantha has said that a problem has arisen in some cities due to displaying of paintings even in places where there is an ad display. The MP has pointed out that the tuition teachers are severely inconvenienced due to this new wave of painting in public places.
Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has said that he would inform the heads of local authorities and the police to make arrangements to allocate places to display public ads.
