Myanmar reports 234 new COVID-19 cases

Yangon [Myanmar], September 19: Myanmar confirmed 234 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, bringing the total tally to 618,898, according to the Ministry of Health on Sunday.
The ministry said in a statement that health authorities tested 9,533 people for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, and the daily positivity rate was 2.45 percent.
The death toll from COVID-19 rose to 19,446 on Sunday as two new deaths were reported in the past 24 hours, the ministry said.
The total number of patients who have recovered from COVID-19 in the country rose to 595,385, including 219 new recoveries on Sunday.
The Southeast Asian country detected its first COVID-19 cases in March 2020.
