Indonesian authority approves home-made Inavac as COVID-19 vaccine

Jakarta [Indonesia], November 5: Indonesia's food and drug authority BPOM has approved the emergency use authorization for the Inavac COVID-19 vaccine as primary for the age group of 18 years and above.
"Considering security aspects and efficacy, the Inavac vaccine has been approved for active immunization for COVID-19 prevention in individuals aged 18 years and above," BPOM chief Penny K. Lukito told a virtual press conference on Friday.
Inavac is an inactivated virus platform vaccine researched by the campus in the second-largest city of Surabaya, Airlangga University, and produced by PT. Biotis Pharmaceutical Indonesia.
COVID-19 transmission in the archipelagic country has risen in recent weeks, with the latest cases on Friday at 5,303, bringing the total to 6,512,913.
