Members change alliances

Sep 25, 2025

Tel Aviv [Israel], September 25: The official recognition of the State of Palestine by France, Britain and a number of EU and NATO members is a very fundamental shift in their foreign policy towards Palestine as well as the political solution to the Israel-Palestine issue.
The above recognition affirms that the above Western countries firmly support the establishment of a Palestinian State with sovereignty and territory to coexist peacefully with the State of Israel in the Middle East region .
Up to now, the EU and NATO have had a consensus on Israel but are divided on Palestine. Currently, there are still many members of these two alliances who support the establishment of an independent, sovereign and territorial Palestinian State that coexists peacefully with the State of Israel in the Middle East, but have not officially recognized the State of Palestine. Now, both alliances will be in more trouble as the internal disagreement on Palestine becomes deeper and more pressure is put on the alliance members who have not or will not officially recognize the State of Palestine.
This increased pressure will not only push those members to officially recognize an independent Palestinian State, but will also lead to further political isolation of Israel in the world. NATO and EU policies towards Palestine and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict will no longer be the same.
Therefore, the question for the EU and NATO is how to stabilize and unify internally and what role they should continue to play for security and stability in the Middle East region in the new context.
