Moscow [Russia], January 8: Fighting continued in Ukraine and Russia on Wednesday, despite international efforts to end the war.
A man was killed by Russian shelling in the southern Ukrainian city of Kherson, Regional Governor Olexsander Prokudin announced on Telegram. Moscow's military has been bombarding the city centre since early morning. The mayor of the south-eastern Ukrainian city of Dnipro reported seven injuries following Russian attacks. Most of the victims suffered acute stress reactions, but there were also shrapnel injuries.
The World Health Organization says stress reactions are the body's response to a potentially traumatic experience. Common symptoms include flashbacks of the event and nightmares. Borys Filatov accused Russia of attacking residential buildings and educational institutions. The buildings damaged included a vocational school.
In the Russian village of Gruskoye near the Ukrainian border, a man was killed when a Ukrainian drone exploded, the governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, wrote on Telegram. Several tanks at an oil depot in the Stary Oskol district caught fire from the attack, he said. Kiev is primarily targeting the Russian oil and gas industry, which Moscow uses to finance its war effort.
