Quang Minh recounts his first days in America, revealing his friendship with Van Son

Hanoi [Vietnam], April 25: Actor Quang Minh was moved to reunite with Van Son at 'Blood Moon Grand Feast 8'. Previously, the two had a successful collaboration on overseas stages.
Recently, artist Quang Minh attracted attention for his appearance in the film " Blood Moon Feast 8" directed by Phan Gia Nhật Linh. In the film, the male artist had comedic scenes with Vân Sơn, reminding viewers of the charming skits the two performed decades ago. In a conversation with us, Quang Minh readily admitted that one of the reasons he accepted the project was because of Vân Sơn and producer Charlie Nguyễn .
Artist Quang Minh's heartfelt confession
The male artist shared: "I accepted this film 50% because of Charlie Nguyen, but Van Son kept it a secret until the crew told me. That surprised me. There were scenes with both of us that moved me because they reminded me of the time we collaborated before."
Quang Minh shared that because they had collaborated before, he and Van Son have many unforgettable memories. When the male artist first came to the US, the arts and culture scene overseas was not yet well-developed. Because he didn't have many opportunities to work, the actor from "The Butterfly House" would often go to flea markets on weekends and wait for people to call him for work.
"Some days I was preparing paintings, other days I was cleaning. Once, Van Son and Bao Liem visited, and while they were asleep, I took the opportunity to go to work. By the time I got back, they both had to go to work again," he recalled.
For a period, Quang Minh and two colleagues, Van Son and Bao Liem, shared an apartment. Recalling this time, the artist confided: "At that time, Van Son and his wife shared one room, Bao Liem and his wife shared another, and I slept on the sofa. When it was cold, I slept right in the hallway between the two rooms. I will never forget those memories. Because it was through that time that we matured. In 1992, overseas centers discovered us and invited us to perform."
Having worked together through difficult times, Quang Minh considers Van Son not only a colleague but also a brother. Therefore, they prioritize each other in everything. Once, an overseas center offered to pay for Quang Minh's family's house and invited him to become an exclusive artist. Regarding this offer, Quang Minh shared: "At that moment, Van Son immediately came to mind. If you want an exclusive contract, I can limit myself elsewhere, but please let me work with Van Son. Because besides being colleagues, we are also brothers."
According to Quang Minh, on the day of the premiere of the film "Blood Moon Feast 8," Van Son's wife texted him after watching the film, saying, "When I saw the scene with you and Van Son, I cried because it reminded me of the two of you from the old days." Witnessing his friend having an impressive role after many years away from Vietnamese cinema, Quang Minh said he was happy for his colleague.
"Initially, I was very worried because it had been 20 years since I'd been back here, and I didn't know what the market was like. This role was perfect for Van Son, so I'm happy for my friend. I have to admit Van Son is very strong because that film required a lot of physical strength, especially the 30-minute scene at the beginning," the actor recounted.
Speaking further about this one-shot scene, Quang Minh said: "Initially, I was afraid the audience wouldn't be patient, especially young people. But I felt sorry for the actors and actresses who performed this scene because it was extremely difficult. This film is about the profession, so the artists and actors enjoyed it more, and the audience was also curious and empathetic to this profession. This is a film where the producers and director had to be very bold to experiment with a new format. Because the beginning was tense, the later parts are lighter and more enjoyable."
