Caracas [Venezuela], November 7: Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Sunday ordered an investigation to determine the cause of a plane crash that killed five people, said the defense ministry.
Five people died Sunday when a Bolivarian Military Aviation (AMB) plane crashed in the town of Puerto Ayacucho, capital of Amazonas state of Venezuela, local authorities reported.
"Aircraft C-208B, acronym ABM 0956, carrying out a transport air group No. 9 test flight, fell to the ground, leaving the entire crew dead," the Amazonas state government posted on Facebook.
The crash occurred at the end of the runway at Cacique Aramare National Airport, which serves Puerto Ayacucho in the eastern province of Amazonas.
The Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) said that the plane crashed while performing flight training at the airport, which is about three km from GJ Jose Antonio Paez Air Base located in the municipality of Atures.
Amazonas Governor Miguel Rodriguez sent his condolences and a "fraternal hug to the family and friends of the crew, who had carried out hundreds of humanitarian missions throughout the Venezuelan jungle, assisting the indigenous people" of the South American nation.
