Kathmandu (Nepal) March 28, 2026(ANI): Ex-Nepal PM KP Sharma Oli was arrested on Saturday in connection with the recent crackdown on Gen Z-led protests. The significant development has come just a day after Balen Shah took oath as the new Prime Minister. The Former Nepal Prime Minister was taken into custody from his residence in Gundu, Bhaktapur, by Nepal Police. As per Kathmandu Post, he is arrested in connection with a ‘culpable homicide-related case’ linked to Gen Z protests crackdown. Earlier, on March 25, a Nepali panel released a report recommending that former PM K.P. Sharma Oli be prosecuted. It recommended Oli’s prosecution for ‘negligence’ over deadly anti-corruption protests in September of last year. The panel was formed to investigate the violence during the September protests that brought down the Nepali Govt. It found Oli responsible for not taking any action to stop hours of firing that killed at least 19 Gen Z protesters. A total of 76 people were killed and 2,522 wounded during two days of unrest, according to the report.
