Nepal PM Balendra Shah holds group talks with foreign envoys in Kathmandu

Apr 08, 2026

Kathmandu (Nepal), April 08 (ANI): In a significant diplomatic shift, Balendra Shah held a group meeting with ambassadors stationed in Kathmandu, departing from the long-standing practice of individual courtesy calls. Envoys from over a dozen countries, including India, the United States, China, the United Kingdom and Bangladesh, attended the meeting at Singhadurbar, alongside Sishir Khanal. The move signals a more structured and controlled diplomatic engagement. Since assuming office on March 27, Shah had not met foreign envoys individually, reflecting a deliberate change in approach. Known for his strong digital presence and unconventional style, Shah now faces the challenge of translating his disruptive political rise into effective governance.
