Nepal Tragedy: Makeshift Zip line restores connectivity after floods destroy bridges in Trishuli

Trishuli (Nepal) September 3, 2026: ANI: Nepali authorities erected makeshift zipline to help stranded residents travel across the stormy Trishuli river. This comes after the deadly flash floods swept away bridges, leaving large areas cut off from the main town. Some of the villagers said on September 3 that they had been stranded on the other side of the river for nearly a week . More than 4,200 people are still missing after a catastrophic flood triggered by a glacier collapse killed more than 1,200 people. Also, hopes for survivors are dimming steadily more than a week after the disaster struck the Himalayan nation. However, Nepali authorities are keeping up relentless search efforts, with some 900 feared trapped in hydroelectric power plants. Nepal govt continues to deploy all available resources towards immediate relief, missing person searches, and long-term recovery. At least, 300 foreign nationals have been rescued safely, approximately 590 foreign citizens from 34 countries remain missing
